Tarmac: Laying the groundwork

Tarmac driveways can sometimes be laid over a substrate that is already there. For example, a pavement may be covered over with the material. However, a substrate may have to be lowered or removed in order to correspond with the level of ground on the street, for example. In other cases, the substrate will have to be “regulated” – added to – in order to build up enough material as to level it properly. Regulating a pavement or driveway before applying the tarmacadam may seem like a cheap solution that will cause damage to a driveway in the long term, but this is far from true.
Tarmac is an expensive material: As such, the layers beneath it may have to be high in order that there is not a waste of tarmac actually used. The cheaper materials – although perfectly serviceable – will be laid under the tarmac and then a base layer and a cover layer of tarmac placed atop.Frequently, regulating requires the filling in of pothole like divots or larger gaps in the sublayers. Less frequently, an entire area that is to be treated with tarmac has to be regulated. It is not unusual that an inch of extra material be laid under the tarmac before the tarmac is placed above it.

Repairing Tarmac Driveways: We may also be able to provide a repair surface and when your contractor gets to repair your tarmac driveway, he will make sure that your driveway is first cleaned and dried. He will not add any restorers or other material before this cleaning and drying process. Of course, your contractor will look for oils left by your vehicle, which in most cases is left there as residue. Your contractor will remove the oil with an oil neutralizer. He will use a pressure washer to clean the tarmac driveway, but he will make sure that the pressure washer is turned down at a low speed so it does not do further damage to the driveway. He will remove all the moss and kill the moss spores with a fungicide wash. Now he will leave the surface to dry and then apply the tarmac restorer using a roller or paint brush possibly. He will leave the tarmac restorer to dry by applying a temperature of more than ten degrees. He will use a masking tape over any flower beds that are close by before he applies any materials. Your contractor knows that a tarmac driveway will be an eye sore to the neighborhood if it is not repaired correctly so if he wants to get business from other neighbors, he will do a good job on yours. 21 Feb 11.

There can be little in life more attractive and enviable than a wonderfully well presented home, an equally pristine garden and a nice clean car sitting proudly in the driveway. A well planned and professionally constructed paved driveway not only adds a huge amount of appeal to the home, but can also have a direct and positive effect of the overall property value. Likewise, an overused yard with tire damage or ineffective driveways paving can look nothing less than hugely unattractive, having a detrimental effect on the overall image and property value. Indeed, there are a number of benefits to professional tarmac driveways, which always augment the cost of the project many times over.

Few would argue that when it comes to the storage of the family car, driveways paving is by far the most preferable solution. Yards without driveways or those which feature driveways perhaps without paving can quickly become both unattractive and dangerous. This is particularly true during wet and cold weather conditions when the ground is directly affected by the element, creating hazardous conditions as traction is reduced between the vehicle and the surface. Such can not only prove tiresome and laborious in the case of cars becoming stuck, but also pose a downright danger due to reduction in overall control.

The benefit of tarmac driveways paving does not stop just with the outside either, as a well paved driveway which prevents a yard becoming muddy and untidy will also reduce the amount of dirt which is brought into the house on shoes and clothes enormously. Good driveways paving really is something which, if utilised correctly, offers a world of benefits with pretty much nothing in the way of disadvantages whatsoever. Property values, safety, ease of life...the list goes on, which really makes the subject of tarmac drives something that any homeowner should really afford a little thought to. - 22 September 11.
